Pi Day a Success
On Friday, March 13th (one day before actual Pi Day on March 14th), the 5th graders celebrated and learned what Pi is all about. Taking a variety of pies of all sizes, students measured the circumference and diameter and then after dividing realized that the circumference of a circle is about 3 times that of the diameter. In fact, it is about 3.14 times. After math, students showed that they not only know Pi is 3.14, but that it is an irrational number that goes on forever. Our Pi Memorization Contest took 40 minutes to get through everyone. The top place goes to Zachary this year, as he memorized 126 digits of Pi in only 5 days. Jolie, Sophie, Valorie, Tyler and Jake also placed in the top 5, all memorizing 53 digits or more and even resulting in a tie for 5th place.

Crazy Hair Day
Thursday was crazy hair day, and boy did we have some craziness. We took the photo in the morning, as some students were not sure their hair would last until the end of the day. All in the name of fun for reading!

Crazy Sock Day
As we continue into our school's reading week, Tuesday was "crazy sock day", as a tribute to "Fox in Socks". It is fun to see so many dressing up for these days.
