Density and Concentration

Reading week continues. Mid-week, several students dressed up as a voyager or explorer of reading. Which is fitting, as we have been exploring elements of poetry, digging deep into the meaning of different poems through our analysis of them. In science, our lab focused on finding the relationship between concentration of solutions and their density. Pictured here, students had four different solutions, each with a different density. With a partner, they went through different trials to layer them so that all four layers stacked up on themselves. Finally, each team discovered which solution was most dense (most concentrated as well) and least dense (most dilute as well). This was verified by placing those two solutions on a balance to witness the heavier density also weighing more, therefore, being more concentrated.
