Making our Scarecrow
With the theme of this year's class scarecrows being "a book", our class decided to make a scarecrow from The Sign of the Beaver, the novel we read first quarter. The class decided which scene to create and then came up with 6 different groups of things to make: Attean, Matt, background, sign, large bear, and bear cub. Students choose what group each wanted to be in and then two afternoons were spent creating our masterpiece. This 100% student led, student built scarecrow turned out great!

Dear junior school teacher, I appreciate this post greatly as it shows a range of activities you can do as a post reading activity. I’m sure that kids loved your enthusiasm to help them make scarecrows and hope that you had much fun too. I wonder what methods and techniques you use to help them get better at writing essays. I believe that while some teachers tend to find essay writers online you try to help your students do everything on their own for them to become more independent in their learning.
